Details of the Immigration:

Canada broke its 20-year migration record in 2023 with 33,000 newcomers in Edmonton. However, the net migration calculated later will stay above the record of 20 years - 21,800 people in 2024 and 18,400 in 2025.

The reason to migrate to Canada, Edmonton is because of its:

  • Higher wages
  • More affordable housing prices

Alberta's more robust economy and local manufacturing and services draw more people toward migrating to Alberta. On one hand, this is a positive sign of immigrants helping to strengthen the economy. On the other hand, the government is concerned that real estate development is keeping up with population growth.

In five years, Edmonton's transport system might speed up to rapid bus transit, and other public transport options might come online when its population hits 1.25 million.

Edmonton’s should follow a new immigration policy:

Due to excessive migration, immigrants are facing issues related to employment and accommodations, discrimination, and education.

An “Inclusive economy” should be initiated where one can benefit another one through the following steps:

  • The education system in an inclusive economy should be equal for everyone, irrespective of culture, language, background, or ability.
  • Anti-racism and anti-oppression should be a mandatory subject for students and children.
  • Edmonton and its public institutions must build an authentic relationship that will benefit them and vice-versa.
  • Newcomers’ experiences should be valued, not just in economic terms.

This new initiative will make Edmonton a better place for immigrants to explore their opportunities.
