Increase in annual median wages

Canada's annual median wages rose 6.8% in 2022. Recent reports by tax filers revealed that median salaries increased to $45,380, the highest in 40 years.   


Employment rose in specific sectors, including the arts, entertainment and recreation, and accommodation and food services. The arts and entertainment sector reported an increased employment rate of 1.6%, while the employment rate in the food and accommodation services shot up to 7.1% in 2022.

Rapid wage growth across provinces in Canada

The average annual wage and commissions increased from the figures reported in 2019. Some of the reasons behind the increase include low inflation and relatively strong wage growth.
