From January to June, 11,050 people were naturalized in the first half of 2024, which is 66% more than in 2023. Data shows that most of the people who acquired Citizenship were Nazi regime descendants, Syrians and Turk nationals. The Nazi descendants amounted to the overall 37% of the people who became red-white-red passport holders.
Around 74.7% of the people with Citizenship were naturalized via legal entitlement, 5.5% were on a discretionary basis, and 19.8% had their naturalization extended. Statistics Austria revealed that a majority of the new citizens, 6,658, were residents in the country compared to the others living abroad.

Syrians were among the top nationalities that received the most number of citizenships, with around 11.1% of the overall 6,925 people. Nearly half the people who were naturalized during this period were women, with 48.6%, with 1/3 of them below the age of 18. One-fifth of people (2,267) who were newly naturalized were born in Austria.

As per data, 3,244 people received Citizenship after residing in the country for at least six years, while 261 people received Citizenship after living there for 15+ years.
