Ontario invited a specific set of candidates in its April 29 Express Entry draw. The 190 candidates invited were taken from Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades stream. The invitations were sent by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The candidates have work experience in 14 skilled occupations identified by their National Occupational Classification (NOC) code.

In case the invited candidates get a nomination from Ontario, 600 points will be added to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. With this, the candidates will effectively get a guarantee of receiving Invitations to Apply (ITA) in an upcoming Express Entry draw.
Here’s a look at different streams via which invitations were issued by Ontario this year:
- Human Capital Priorities stream – 1440 invitations
- Entrepreneur Stream – 26 invitations
- French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream – 242 invitations
The federal government’s OINP allocation for 2020 is still to be known. Last year, there was an allocation of 6,650 principal applicant spots. 700 spots were added owing to Ontario’s meeting the first allocation target.
