Germany granted 90,000 Student visas in 2024

According to the data released by the German Interior Ministry, the country issued 27,000 additional student visas in the last four years, starting from 2021 to 2024. The stats recorded marked a 43% increase in the total number of German student visa issuances. Germany is growing into a popular study destination among international students. Schengen News reports that around 63,000 student visas were granted in 2021, while 90,000 were granted in 2024.     

 

The country also witnessed an increase in total number of German work visas. The total number of German work visa approvals exceeded half a million in the last 4 years, from 2021 to 2024. Germany had also earlier announced to increase work visas for skilled workers from 2025.

Germany Introduces New Measures to Boost Immigration

Germany is taking measures to streamline and boost its immigration. As a part of this effort, Germany has extended its integration courses to those with the asylum process underway. The Skilled Immigration Act in Germany was also designed to streamline the immigration process for skilled workers. Germany seeks around 288,000 skilled foreign workers annually until 2040, creating more opportunities for foreign nationals.

 

The country has also eased the citizenship law by streamlining the citizenship process for those who have lived in Germany for a long time. However, those with wrong and controversial beliefs may risk losing their citizenship.
