September 2020 ended with a bang as Canada held its latest all-program Canada Express Entry draw. ITAs (invites) were issued to 4,200 candidates in this draw conducted on September 30, 2020.

The minimum CRS score expected of the candidates was 471 points. This was one point lesser than the previous all-program draw on September 16, 2020.

The September 30, September 16, and September 2 draws together has become the second-largest Express Entry draw of all time. An all-time record for a calendar month, September 2020 has issued 12,600 ITAs.

With such a huge number of ITAs issued even through the COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC clearly sends out a message that Canada immigration levels targets for the coming years are very much on and worked on to be achieved.

Canada’s return to holding all-program draws bi-weekly, as it was in the pre-COVID-19 times, is a very positive indication of determination and confidence. The format of conducting CEC and PNP draws only during the pandemic is finally changing.

78,350 ITAs have been issued by Canada so far in 2020. In 2019, the number of ITAs sent in all year was 85,300. At the rate and strategy Canada is conducting its immigration activities, it could even break the old record of 89,800 ITAs achieved in 2018.

Canada has raised its immigration admission target for high-skilled workers for this year from 81,400 (2019) to 85,800.

In the September 30 draw, the tie-breaking rule was applied with the timestamp of March 2, 2020, at 8:47 am EST. In case 2 or more candidates had the minimum CRS score, the ones who submitted their Express Entry profile before the timestamp stipulated got ITAs.

This draw was the 164th draw overall and the 31st under Express Entry in 2020.

Express Entry is the immigration application management system maintained by the federal government. This system manages the skilled worker applications under the federal economic programs namely FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. Parts of Canada PNP are also managed by the system.
