World-class education and global recognition are among the qualities Canada offers to international students. Canadian universities give great importance to research in their curriculum. They support students who come up with the best research ideas by giving them scholarships for their research works.

The time and effort you invest in a Canada Student visa will turn out worth it for reasons like:

  • Education that’s affordable

  • Innovative research opportunities that are abundant

  • Possibilities for immigration

  • Exciting lifestyle in the campus

  • Safe communities

  • Foreign students can work while studying

  • The chance to immigrate after completing the course

  • Vibrant and dynamic campus atmosphere

  • Good opportunities for internship

  • Decide what you want to study, where you want to live, overall cost, available opportunities, etc.

  • Shortlist the universities and study programs that meet your requirements to apply for.

  • Get ready for standardized tests like GRE/TOEFL/IELTS/GMAT based on the needs specified by the university and colleges. Get registered for these tests. Plan for the time you will need in case you have to take the test again. You must complete these tests before the month of September of the year you wish to apply for study in Canada.

  • Ensure that you have sufficient money with you for the entire period of study in Canada. This amount should cover accommodation, local travel, food, and miscellaneous expenses. Decide who or how you will finance your studies (E.g. personal savings, education loan, student scholarship, or assistantship.

  • Complete the application process with the university intended well before deadlines and send them. Contact each university directly and understand their admission requirements.

  • Once you get application acceptance letter from the universities you applied to, make your choice where to study at. Then pay a non-refundable deposit to the university to confirm your admission.

  • After getting admission confirmation, you can apply for student visa.

If you are a foreign national on a Canada study visa you can bring your spouse and dependent children along to Canada. Your spouse can apply for an open work permit. You both can work for a Canadian employer for the valid duration of your study visa. In case your spouse wants to study in Canada, he/she will have to apply for a separate study visa.

You being a study visa holder can bring your dependent children to Canada. The children can stay with you in Canada for the duration of your study visa. Minor children can pursue their school education in the country provided you or your spouse (parents) can either work or study in Canada.

A dependent child is one below 22 years of age. Children above 22 years who aren’t financially independent due to a physical or mental condition are also treated as dependent.

To keep the international students back in Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) operates a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) program. Under this program, international graduates may obtain an open work permit for up to 3 years.

PGWP allows you to work for any Canadian employer in any industry without the need for a job offer while applying.

  • If you pursue a course in Canada of less than 2 years’ duration, you are eligible for a PGWP of a duration that equals the duration of the course.

  • g.: An 8-month course = An 8-month PGWP

  • If you pursue a 2-year course in Canada (like a Masters or Diploma) you will be eligible for a PGWP of 3-year duration.

  • g.: A 2-year Masters/Diploma = A 3-year PGWP

  • To stay back in Canada after studies, you must pursue a course for at least 8 months.

  • If you do a course with less than 8 months duration, you aren’t eligible to apply for a PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit).

Important update:

Under normal circumstances, an international student cannot be eligible for PGWP if the student is pursuing a Canadian university course via distance learning viz. online education.

But considering the inability for these students to arrive in Canada to pursue the course due to COVID-19, they are allowed to complete up to 50% of their course from outside Canada without losing the eligibility for PGWP. No time will be deducted from the tenure of PGWP. This is applicable till December 31, 2020.

Intake 3: Summer Semester – Usually starts in April/May and is available for limited programs and colleges

You are advised to apply 6 to 9 months before the academic session starts. When you apply closer to the deadline, admissions and scholarships become difficult.

A Memorable Journey From The Time I First Visited Y-Axis Office

I must say a huge and grateful Thank you to Yaxis and Mr. Rahul sharma and his legal Team in helping me for the initial response.i started in May 2019 to know my eligibility. Mr.Rahul is truthful person and not afraid to tell me about certain things and provided me moral support that was very important for me. Fraudulent activities often a concern for a new client but they didn’t deceive me at any spot and my payment was secure and properly paid in company’s account and online receipts were provided by emails. After intial positive responses my process consultant Mr. Shahshank is really a humble and cooperative person who guides about each and every step of PR documentation and his feedback is really positive during all the process.
