The most recent Express Entry Draw was conducted on 29th March 2023.
An all-program draw invited 7000 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 481.
7000 ITAs were issued for permanent residence by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The draw recorded the lowest CRS score for an all-program draw via the Express Entry program.
A total of 21,000 ITAs were issued by the three most recent Express Entry Draws that were held in the past 15 days.

The Express Entry Draw is one of the most used Canadian immigration pathways candidates prefer.
The government of Canada majorly manages the economic class immigrants via Express Entry.

Highlights: $4.5 Billion to be invested in Immigration

The Canada Budget for 2022 decided on a $1.6 billion investment towards Canada Immigration for the next six years, along with $315 million to aid the Immigration Level Plans of Canada.
The government has made plans to invite 1.5 million permanent residents by the year 2025.
The 2023 Budget proposed $10 million for the next five years, starting from 2023-24.
An allowance of $14.6 million is in the amortization stage for implementing the biometrics by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the IRCC.
The eligibility criteria for the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) program will be extended for tourers from trustworthy countries.

A detailed insight into the Budget 2023-24

Canada has released the Budget for 2023-24 with an investment commitment of $55 million towards the Immigration system of Canada.
The additional $4.5 billion will also be included for 2023-24 by the IRCC.
The 2023-24 Budget mainly focuses on healthcare, sustainable energy, and promoting accessible measures for Canadians and immigrants.
$14.6 million will go into implementing biometrics by the IRCC and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMM). This granting will be used over a period of five years.
$50.8 million will go into extending the eligibility criteria for the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization Program) for travelers from trustworthy countries. This granting will be used over a period of four years.
$171.4 million will go into extending the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel. This granting will be used over a period of three years.
$123.2 million will go into promoting Francophone Immigration in Canada for the recruitment of French-speaking foreign workers from outside Quebec.

Sean Fraser, the immigration minister of Canada, is set to announce a new immigration plan.
The immigration plan is set to be launched under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) around summertime.
The latest immigration plan particularly supports skilled refugees and other displaced migrants.
The entire ideology behind the new immigration plan is to bridge the gap between refugees and employers.
Canada will now have better opportunities to promote careers for emigrants.

Available In-demand jobs under the New Immigration plan

The provinces and territories of Canada have job opportunities with in-demand roles.
Ottawa has promised employers to accommodate more skilled workers to facilitate jobs.

As per the 2023-2025 Immigration plans –

Ottawa has planned to on-board a target of 465,000 new PR individuals
Canada is keen on welcoming 485,000 new PR by 2024 and 500,000 by 2025.
45 million New permanent resident candidates will be accommodated by Canada in the next three years.

Canadian job opportunities

As per the statistical and demographic services agency, 855,890 jobs were left untaken in Canada by the end of 2022.
The new pathway to be introduced under the EMPP will provide numerous and equal employment opportunities for immigrants and refugees in the country.

Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Manitoba & British Columbia held draws in the 3rd week of March 2023.
The five provinces collectively issued a total of 2,739 candidates’ NOIs.
The collective CRS score range for the draws was 82-612.
The draws held by the provinces were PNP Draws.

(OINP) Ontario PNP Draw: Skilled Trades Stream

Only candidates belonging to the selective NOC occupations were eligible for this Draw.
The SINP Draw was conducted under the Entrepreneur EOI system stream.

(BCPNP) British Columbia PNP Draw: Skilled Worker & International Graduate Stream

The total number of Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) issued was 48, with a minimum CRS score of 708 under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream.

Huge Step for non-immigrant workers who lost their jobs due to layoffs

In a series of tweets, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that individuals on a US business visa or US tourist visa, i.e., B1 and B2 visa, are now eligible to apply for a new role. Additionally, they can appear for an interview for a prospective job to work in US.

The USCIS’ move came as good news for thousands of who have lost their jobs due to layoffs and changed their visa status to B1 and B2 visa to stay in the US.

Eligibility Criteria for Job Search on B1 and B2 Visa

Before applying any new job, all B1 and B2 visa holders should:

Get a petition and change of status approval from B-1 or B-2 visa to an employment-authorized status.
Ensure that the new status takes effect before commencing the new job in US.

Express Entry draws roars in March 7000 ITAs issued with lowest CRS score 484

Highlights: 7000 ITAs issued in the most recent Express Entry Draw

The eight Express Entry Draw for 2023 was conducted on March 23.
It is an All-program Draw that selects candidates from immigration programs like the CEC (Canadian Experience Class), the FSTP (Federal Skilled Trades Program) & the FSWP (Federal Skilled Worker Program).
The Express Entry Draw issued 7000 ITAs with a minimum CRS score of 484.
The ITAs issued in this draw are equivalent to the ITAs published on March 15, which held the largest All-program Draw.

Multi-year PNP Level plans

A provincial nomination has become the most accessible pathway for candidates to enter Canada.
Candidates participating in the Express Entry can increase their chances of scoring 600 CRS points by receiving an ITA via the provincial nomination.
The 600 points received through the invitation can boost the candidate’s chance of getting a PR.
A recent meeting was held between immigration ministers by the Forum of Ministers Responsible for Immigration (FMRI) to discuss ways that can promote the immigration rate of the country.
The first-of-a-kind “Multi-year Immigration Plan” was declared due at the meeting.
The multi-year immigration plan works similarly to that of the Federal Immigration Level Plans that devise the immigration targets for three consecutive years.
The PNP allocations were increased by some of the provinces and territories of Canada to accommodate skilled immigrants that can contribute to the country’s economy.
Ontario plans on increasing its PNP allocations to 18,000 in 2025.
Manitoba has increased its allocations to 9500.
Saskatchewan plans on increasing its PNP allocations to 8500 in 2025.
Alberta has increased its allocations to 9750 for the year 2023.

PGWP Extension

The Immigration Minister of Canada has announced implementing an 18-month extension on Open work permits.
The extension can be applied via the official website of IRCC from April 6.
This extension will make the PGWP holders eligible to receive ITAs via the Express Entry program.
286,000 PGWP holders were recorded in Canada by the end of 2022.

It primarily supports immigrant women to get better job opportunities in the tech industry.
The Canadian government makes efforts to promote opportunities that align with the work experience and skill expertise of women immigrants.
The government has developed programs like Tech Connect to eliminate discrimination and promote equal opportunities.
The IRCC has introduced a two-year YWCA Tech Connect employment program extension.

Canada’s RNWP services

The RNWP services were offered to women immigrants from over 128 countries between 2019 and 2020.
Most of the women selected were between the age group of 25-54 with less than five years of residence in Canada.

The programs for Racialized women are also to promote the economy of Canada by having immigrant women contribute to society with their skills and expertise.
The Federal government committed a total funding of $31.9 million for the Pilot program in 2018.

Canada is inviting skilled immigrants to fill the country’s labor gaps.
More immigrants seek the PNP pathway for Canadian PR than the Express Entry program.
The PNP was launched in 1998 with just 400 immigrants who entered Canada via the PNP program.
The Canadian Immigration Level Plans for 2023-25 are set to increase from 105,500 to 117,500 by 2025.

PNP Developments

The country’s federal, provincial, and territorial ministers have agreed on creating a multi-year immigration plan relating to the PNP program.
The revised immigration plan was initiated to give the two levels of government more flexibility to strategize immigration plans.
The multi-year PNP plan was re-endorsed by the immigration ministers of each province & territory of Canada.
The re-introduction of the PNP plan was held during the bi-annual Forum of Ministers Responsible for Immigration (FMRI).
The Canadian PNP program is functional in 11 territories & provinces of Canada, excluding Quebec and Nunavut.
Several provinces and territories have started implementing various immigration plans, with Ontario having decided to put forth two fundamental requests to the government.
The first request from Ontario was to have more liberty over the process of economic immigration, with the second request being to double the PNP allocations to over 18,000.
Alberta will have its PNP allocations increase to 10,849 by the year 2025.
Saskatchewan’s PNP allocations will increase to 8,500 by the year 2025.
Manitoba’s PNP allocations will increase to 9,500 by the end of this year.
Yukon will make 430 PNP spots available for 2023 which is 300 more spots compared to last year.

How to apply for the PNP program?

The PNP program has two types: Base PNP nominations and Enhanced PNP nominations.

Base PNP

Step 1: Create an account with IRCC upon getting a provincial nomination.

Step 2: Fill out the application form.

Step 3: Pay the application fees.

Step 4: Apply online and wait for the status of the application.

Step 5: Fly to Canada.

Enhanced PNP

Immigration nominations for PR via the Express Entry program can be known as Enhanced PNP.
Candidates get 600 CRS points when they receive a PNP nomination.
There are two ways through which the Enhanced PNP applications are processed –

– The provincial or territorial governments check the Express Entry pool for possible PR aspirants.

– Provinces will review the profiles of the possible PR aspirants.

Step 1: Create an account with the IRCC

Step 2: Submit an Express Entry profile.

Step 3: Receive a territorial, state, or provincial nomination.

Step 4: Upon accepting the Express Entry nomination, you must receive an ITA.

Step 5: Fill out the application, pay the fees, and fly to Canada.

What is the processing time for PNP nominations?

The PNP program has Base PNP nominations and Enhanced PNP nominations, wherein the Enhanced PNPs have a faster processing time than Base PNP nominations.
The processing time for Base PNP nominations is 20 months.
The processing time for Enhanced PNP nominations is 11 months.
