Saskatchewan Publishes 2022 Draw Dates For Canada Immigration Entrepreneur Category

Here we bring you the dates for provincial draws in 2022 that will be conducted by Saskatchewan PNP. These draws will be involving candidates from the Saskatchewan Immigration Entrepreneur category of the SINP. The first three SINP draws of 2022 will be held on January 6, March 3, and May 5.

The Saskatchewan Immigration Entrepreneur category aims at immigration candidates who have a minimum net worth of $500,000. They have to make investments of $200,000 or $300,000 depending on where their business will be established in Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan puts 3 selection factors on priority so that it can separate immigration candidates who scored the same number of points on the points grid of the Entrepreneur Stream. They are:

  • Candidates with a business that’s planned for a key sector of the economy
  • Skills in the official language
  • Completion of a visit to the province to explore the region

When the candidates give their EOI, it must meet the minimum requirements for entry, which are:

  • At least 3 years of managerial or entrepreneurial experience that’s relevant
  • A net worth of at least $500,000 that’s acquired legally
  • Minimum investment of $300,000 in Saskatoon or Regina or $200,000 in any other area of Saskatchewan

Eligible candidates who submit their profiles get added to a candidate pool. They receive a score too. Candidates with the highest scores get invited to lodge an application that includes:

  • The commitment to be actively involved in the daily management of their business in Saskatchewan
  • Business Establishment Plan that confirms the figures in the EOI, and includes a minimum of one-third ownership of a company in Saskatchewan, unless their investment equals or exceeds $1 million
  • Commitment to creating at least 2 jobs for citizens or permanent residents of Canada in case the business is situated in Saskatoon or Regina

With more immigrants wishing to work in Canada, it is no surprise that Canada has emerged as one of the top places to work in 2022.

Apart from a positive job outlook, Canada provides ideal working conditions, decent pay and work-life balance to overseas job seekers who come to work here. This has made the country a top destination for overseas jobs and a prime reason to migrate to Canada.

An open work permit allows you to work for any employer in Canada. This visa is not job-specific, so applicants do not require the Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or an offer letter from an employer who has paid the compliance fee.

With an open work permit, you can work for any employer except for those companies that do not comply with labor requirements. As the name suggests, the employer-specific work permit is a permit that allows you to work for a specific employer.

Every year over 300,000 individuals are granted permits to work in Canada.  With the Canada Work Permit Visa, you can:

  • Work in Canada under the employer mentioned in your work permit application

A guide to eligibility to apply for an Australia PR visa in 2022

Australia is a great place to be in. It’s a country with a strong economy and abundant possibilities for foreigners to work and study. Here, we will look at what it takes to obtain an Australia PR visa. We will see what’s necessary for you to be eligible to apply for permanent residence in Australia.

There are many Australian migrant visas that can enable you to live and work in Australia permanently. So, understanding the eligibility would need us to discuss some of the most popular of those visa categories.

Family-based PR

This pathway is for those who already have a relative as an Australian citizen or Australia PR visa holder. They can immigrate to Canada if they are sponsored by those in Australia.

Here’s how you can be eligible for several family-based visa options to immigrate to Australia:

Subclass 820 & 801 (Partner Visa)

In this pathway, the relative will first get a Subclass 820 visa, which is a temporary partner visa that lets them live in Australia. Then an application can be lodged for a Subclass 801 visa, which makes the relative an Australia permanent resident.

Applications for both these visas can be lodged at the same time by paying the application charge for just one. The processing of the application will take place in 2 stages. There will be a gap of 2 years between the processing of the 2 visas.

To be eligible, you have to be married to or be having a de facto relationship with either of the following:

  • A citizen of Australia
  • An Australian permanent resident
  • A New Zealand citizen who is deemed eligible

Subclass 300 (Prospective Marriage visa)

With this visa, you can arrive in Australia to marry your prospective spouse and then apply for a Partner Visa to settle down in Australia. Also, you can stay in Australia for 9 to 15 months counted from the date of granting of the visa. You can also work and study in Australia.

For eligibility, you must

  • Be sponsored
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have the intention to marry your prospective spouse before the visa gets expired
  • Be outside Australia at the time of lodging an application

Subclass 101 (Child visa)

This visa enables a child to immigrate to Australia to live with his/her parents in Australia. To be eligible, the child must be:

  • A dependent child of a parent who’s a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or a citizen of New Zealand
  • Either
    • Under 18 years of age, a full-time student of age between 18 and 25, and financially dependent on the parent, or
    • Aged above 18 years and cannot work owing to a disability
  • Single and have a dependency on the parent
  • Outside Australia at the time of lodging an application

Work-based PR

Here are some options for PR visas based on work in Australia.

Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme visa)

Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent Visa)

Canada immigration in 2022 – The 3 easiest ways to follow

What are 3 easiest ways to immigrate to Canada in 2022

What are 3 easiest ways to immigrate to Canada in 2022

When it comes to Canada immigration, there are many pathways that lead you there. You could be a skilled foreign worker, a student seeking permanent residence in Canada, or an entrepreneur trying to break new ground for business in Canada. There’s a way if you are eligible and ready to immigrate.

Let’s make our discussion here a bit more interesting. Let’s explore the 3 easiest ways to immigrate to Canada.

Canada Express Entry

The most popular and fastest Canada immigration pathway is Canada Express Entry. Why? Because the whole application processing happens within 6 months.

Canada Express Entry is the application management system for economic migration. Skilled foreign workers join one of the immigration programs under Canada Express Entry to obtain a Canada PR visa.

These economic migration programs are FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. When you choose any of these programs, you have to be aware of the eligibility criteria and meet them.

Here are the steps to follow with Canada Express Entry system.

Step 1: Determining Eligibility

You have to meet the minimum requirements prescribed to be eligible to enter the Express Entry system and create a profile. So, you have to satisfy the bare minimum conditions laid out related to education, age, work experience, skill in Canada’s official languages, a job offer, and having family members in Canada.

Once you are approved for the Express Entry system, the profile that you have created will be ranked by CRS.

Step 2: Collect your documents for submission

It’s essential that you collect all the required documents and submit them along with the application for a Canada PR visa. The following are the basic documents you must submit:

  • A passport/valid travel document
  • Provincial nomination (in case you have one)
  • Proof of work experience
  • Proof of Canadian education or ECA done in Canada for the purpose of immigration (in case you are applying via FSWP)
  • Proof of funds
  • Certificate of qualification in a trade occupation issued by a territory/province in Canada (in case you have one)
  • Results of language tests
  • A job offer in writing from a Canadian employer (in case you have one)

Step 3: Submit your profile

You will now submit your profile to Canada Express Entry online. After submission, your profile will be ranked by CRS. The points assigned to your profile will decide how you are selected for the Canada PR visa issue. The higher your score, the higher your chances.

Step 4: Invitation from IRCC and applying for permanent residence

When your profile is up for an invitation, IRCC issues an invitation to you to apply for a Canada PR visa. From the day you receive the invitation, you have 60 days to submit your application for the visa. Once your application is submitted, its processing takes under 6 months to complete. From there, you have only to reach Canada to complete the process of permanent residence.

Canadian provinces give you the chance of immigrating to Canada through a provincial nomination. Every province has a PNP that has access to the Express Entry candidate pool. The provinces find suitable and skilled candidates to meet their labor market requirements and offer them a nomination.

If you accept the nomination, you will be awarded 600 extra CRS points, which will increase your basic Express Entry score. That will in turn be beneficial for you as it will improve your chances to apply for a Canada PR visa.

The PNP works for those foreign workers who:

  • Want to live and work in the province
  • Have the skills, education, and work experience in specific industries and can contribute to the province’s/territory’s economy
  • Have the willingness to obtain a Canada PR visa

Every PNP has streams. These streams function as programs that facilitate Canada immigration for a specific immigrant group like:

  • Skilled workers
  • Semi-skilled workers
  • Students
  • Business people

Process types in PNP

Paper-based process

Under this process type, your application is lodged to a province/territory under a non-Express Entry system. After getting nominated, you must apply for a Canada PR visa in paper to IRCC. Then, there will be medical and police verifications passing which you will become a Canada PR visa holder.

Compared to the Express Entry process, the paper-based process needs more time to complete.

Express Entry process

Under the Express Entry process, your application can be lodged in 2 ways:

Method 1

You lodge an application for a provincial nomination under an Express Entry system by contacting the province/territory. If the province/ territory gives you a nomination, then you can proceed to create/update your Express Entry profile. That will show that you have got a nomination.

Method 2

Create a Canada Express Entry profile first. Then submit your EOI to the territories/provinces you want to migrate to. If the province/territory issues you an NOI, you will come into contact with them directly. Then you lodge an application to the province’s/territory’s Express Entry stream. That will lead you to get a provincial nomination.

Family sponsorship
Your relatives can come and study, live, work in Canada as permanent residents. If you are a permanent resident of Canada yourself, you are allowed to sponsor some of your relatives to migrate to Canada. You have to be at least 18 years of age to sponsor your relatives.

Also, you may require any one of these:

  • You must be a permanent resident in Canada
  • You must be a Canadian citizen
  • You are registered as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act

It’s an easy pathway provided the relative you sponsor meets the criteria of moving to Canada under this immigration program.

With more immigrants arriving to work in Canada, the benefits of increased immigration will translate to a healthier labor market and a better economy.

Let’s examine how the Canadian economy and job scene have been performing in 2021 to get an idea of where it’s heading in 2022.

In November 2021, employment in Canada grew by 154,000 registering a 0.8% increase compared to 2020. Simultaneously, unemployment reduced to 6% in the same month.

There was a marked increase in the services and goods-producing sectors of the Canadian economy in November 2021. Full-time work grew by 0.5% and part-time work improved by 2.1% compared to 2020. The employment gains were spread across 6 Canadian provinces.

More than 8 in 10 women classified as core-aged (25 to 54 years of age) were employed in November 2021. This was 1% higher than what it was in February 2020. Employment among core-aged women increased by 66,000 of which most were in full-time work. Employment increased among core-aged men by 48,000, completely in full-time work in Canada.

The number of private-sector employees grew by 107,000 in November 2021. Public sector employment barely showed any change.

Average wages for new employees (i.e., in the job for up to 3 months) grew faster than those who have been in their jobs for longer than 18 months.

Employment scene in Canadian provinces

Employment in 6 Canadian provinces increased in November 2021. These are Alberta, Quebec, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland & Labrador.

In Ontario, employment rose by 68,000. This was a growth registered for the sixth consecutive month. The areas in which there was growth in full-time employment included finance, construction, wholesale & retail trade, healthcare, and insurance.

Growth in employment in Toronto CMA in November 2021 happened by 44,000. In the same month, Toronto CMA registered an unemployment rate of 7% which was 0.9% lesser compared to October 2021. It was also the lowest since February 2020.

Employment in Alberta increased by 15,000 in November 2021. The major contributors to the increase were construction and wholesale & retail trade. The employment rate of Alberta was 64% and stood higher than all other provinces.

In Newfoundland & Labrador, a rise in employment by 9,100 was registered in November 2021. The increase was registered wholly in full-time work. There was a reduction in unemployment by 3.5% and reached 10.4%. The number of unemployed decreased by 8,800.

Prince Edward Island registered growth in employment by 2,900 in November 2021. The unemployment rate in PEI reduced to 8% from 8.1% compared to October 2021.

British Columbia kept a steady employment level in November 2021. This level has been maintained for 5 years in a row. The unemployment rate of the province was 5.6% in November 2021.

The conclusion

So, what can we take away from this information that will help speculate which Canadian province will have more job opportunities in 2022?

Alberta and Ontario seem to be consistent in their employment growth. British Columbia too has maintained its employment level consistently and hence can be observed as a steady job provider in 2022. And finally, you can’t ignore Quebec as a job generator.

Canada takes measures to meet immigration target of 1.2 million immigrants by 2022

In the first quarter of 2020t the Federal government of Canada ad announced in its immigration plans to invite 1.2 million immigrants by 2023. To meet these immigration targets, the government planned to focus on economic programs. It increased the quota of provincial nominee programs from 61,000 to 67,800 for this year. In order to achieve this target, the Canada immigration authorities have announced some decisions which you should know if you are planning to migrate to Canada.

The country is very well aware that immigrants are crucial for rebuilding the economy. According to Marco E. L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration in Canada, “Immigration is essential to getting us through the pandemic, but also to our short-term economic recovery and our long-term economic growth…. As we look to recovery, newcomers create jobs not just by giving our businesses the skills they need to thrive, but also by starting businesses themselves. Our plan will help to address some of our most acute labor shortages and to grow our population to keep Canada competitive on the world stage.”

Focus on economic programs

Under the new immigration plans announced recently, 60 percent of immigrants will be welcomed under the economic class programs, this will include the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, Canadian Experience Class, the Start-up Visa and Self-Employed Persons program.
This is in keeping with Canada’s tradition of giving priority to skilled workers and their families. It also intends to encourage entrepreneurs to set up business in Canada.

Priority to family sponsorship programs

Citizens and permanent residents in Canada can sponsor their spouse and dependent children for immigration. The focus on reuniting families has led to 80,000 places being reserved for family sponsorship under the new immigration plan.

The government has also increased sponsorship numbers under the Parent and Grandparent program (PGP).

The high immigration targets if 2021-23 is an indication of Canada’s desire to get skilled candidates to contribute to the economic and social development of Canada.

Immigrants to help in economic growth

The country has a history of welcoming immigrants to fill immediate job openings, but its immigration laws are also geared to aid the country’s long-term economic progress. Immigrants who come to the country amid economic downturns are expected to contribute to the country’s future economic growth.

The country’s labor force will grow as more immigrants arrive, and one approach to enhance the economy is to use the labor force more productively. In light of this, it makes more sense to welcome immigrants during difficult economic times.

Even while newcomers may find it difficult to find work that matches their qualifications at first, with the country’s baby boomers ready to retire in a few years, local firms will be fighting for skilled foreigners. Immigrants will benefit from increased job prospects and pay as a result of this.

Immigrants will contribute to the economy by creating a demand for products and services once they arrive in the country. The government is doing everything it can to keep the immigration flow moving by holding frequent immigration draws. It also assists Canadian businesses in obtaining temporary foreign workers.

In a bid to keep the economy going, the Canadian government has decided to continue processing visas in the Temporary Foreign Worker program (TFWP) stream and help Canadian employers during the time of this pandemic.

In the aim to meet its immigration targets and get around the travel restrictions imposed due to the pandemic that prevents immigrants coming from outside the country, the IRCC has been issuing invitations to candidates already in the country. This has led to more of candidates belonging to the PNP and the CEC categories getting invitations in 2021.

The government has invited 361,000 immigrants in 2021 and is most likely to achieve its target of 401,000 immigrants for 2021.

 Meeting the target for 2022

In order to meet its immigration target of 411,000 candidates for 2022, the government has introduced a slew of measures:

The IRCC has virtually processed additional application categories in order to return visa application processing rates to pre-pandemic levels.

It has shifted its focus to providing numerous immigration services remotely (E.g., online citizenship ceremonies).

By 2023, the Canadian government hopes to see a 4.4 percent increase in French-speaking immigrants outside of Quebec.

More airports are being built in Canada, and by the end of November 2021, the country will have 18 international airports. This will undoubtedly assist in attracting more new immigrants to Canada.

New immigration priorities

In order to meet its immigration target the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau issued a total of 38 mandate letters, one for each of the Cabinet ministers.

Mandate letters, which are open to the public, outline the obligations that each minister will be required to fulfil, as well as the obstacles that they will face in their roles.

The mandate letters define the expectations that the Canadian Prime Minister has of each of the Ministers, as well as providing Canadians with a clear picture of how the government expects to carry out its program.

According to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship’s mandate letter, more newcomers are needed in all regions of Canada. Newcomers who will help Canada’s economy recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the mandate letter by PM Justin Trudeau, certain commitments are to be achieved as part of Canada’s new immigration priorities.

New Canada Immigration Priorities for 2022

As per the mandate Canada’s immigration priorities for 2022 include:

  • Continue to welcome newcomers into Canada, as outlined in the Immigration Levels Plan for 2021-2023.
  • To accommodate for delays caused by COVID-19, the processing time for Canada visa applications has been reduced.
  • Working to improve family reunification through – [1] the introduction of electronic family reunification applications, and [2] the implementation of a program that grants Canada temporary resident status to spouses and children living abroad while their Canada PR visa application is being processed.
  • To make the process of applying for Canadian citizenship free for PR visa holders who had met all of the conditions.
  • Creating a Trusted Employer program for Canadian businesses that hire temporary foreign labor.
  • Improving the Global Talent pipeline by [1] making permit renewals easier, [2] maintaining the two-week processing period, and [3] providing an employer hotline.
  • Working with provinces, territories, and other regulatory agencies to improve the recognition of international credentials.
  • Building on the Canadian government’s existing pilot initiatives.
  • Continue to collaborate with the Quebec government on an ambitious national strategy to boost Francophone immigration in Canada, as well as immigrants’ French language skills in Quebec.
  • Through the government Express Entry system, international students and temporary foreign employees will have more opportunities to become permanent residents of Canada.
  • The Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot is being expanded upon.
  • Assuring that Canadian immigration better helps medium- and small-sized communities that require more immigrants to flourish socially and economically.
  • Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Expansion (RNIP).
  • Making the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) a permanent program.

The details of the mandate reveal Canada’s commitment to meet its immigration target and acknowledge role of immigrants in tis economic growth.

Ontario aiming to welcome 100 intl. entrepreneurs via Ontario PNP

Ontario recruit 100 immigrant entrepreneurs in next two years

If you are interested in investing in provincial Canada, there’s an opportunity that has come up. Ontario is working on recruiting 100 international entrepreneurs who are willing to start and run a business in the province. These foreign entrepreneurs will arrive in Canada through the Entrepreneur Stream of Ontario PNP managed by OINP.

This new initiative has been launched with the intention to boost local job creation in sectors like IT, tourism, and life sciences. Moreover, the focus is on developing regional areas in the province. It’s an attempt to revive the provincial economy by drawing in more investments to areas other than big cities.

It’s a 2-year project wherein international entrepreneurs can buy or start a new business in Ontario. They can hire local workers and bolster the economic development of the regional communities.

The entrepreneurs have to invest at least $200,000 in the business they will operate in Ontario. Priority will be given to entrepreneurs who are interested in investing outside the GTA. They will be encouraged to invest in communities that are highly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic that led to large-scale job losses.

Through this new scheme, the government expects to raise a minimum of $20 million. The entrepreneurs who operate in Ontario through this scheme for 18 to 20 months will be eligible to apply for a provincial nomination for a Canada PR visa.

Ontario is currently urging the federal government of Canada to double the allocation for the issue of nomination for the province in 2022. Such a step will help support the economic growth of the region. It will also help generate new investments and create new jobs in the province.

Atlantic Immigration Program becomes permanent from Jan 1

Atlantic Canada has been a significant region in terms of provincial immigration in Canada. The newcomers who arrived in the region have contributed to the progress of the communities in the area along with bringing prosperity to their businesses and adding to their population. Canada immigration has a special provincial immigration program called Atlantic Immigration Pilot.

This pilot program will become a permanent immigration program from January 1, 2022. The Atlantic Immigration Program, as it will be known, has been declared owing to the great success the pilot has had through the years.

After becoming a permanent program, it will help Atlantic provinces better to draw in skilled immigrants. Those skilled foreigners are required to solve the region’s demographic and economic challenges. A major one of those challenges is the shortage of labor in the region.

History of Atlantic Immigration Pilot

The pilot was launched in 2017. Through the years, it has drawn in over 10,000 new immigrants to Atlantic Canada. The employers who participated in the pilot made more than 9,800 job offers in key sectors like accommodation, healthcare, manufacturing, and food services. Over 90% of applicants via the pilot are still residing in the Atlantic Canada region. Compared to other immigration programs, this program has a very high rate of retention.

The Atlantic Immigration Program

The new permanent program will retain 3 features that played key roles in the success of the pilot version of the program. These are the focus on employers, collaborative approach across all provinces in the Atlantic Canada region, and enhanced support for immigrants’ settlement.

The permanent program was designed with a collaborative effort of IRCC and Atlantic provinces. The evaluation of the pilot program and the lessons learned from it were key factors in the design of the permanent program.

Canada immigration candidates who have a valid endorsement can start submitting applications for Canada PR under the new program on March 6, 2022.
